planning a wedding in or around asheville? here's one venue you may want to consider
If you're searching for wedding venues in or around Asheville, chances are you're looking for more than just a venue. You're probably looking for mountain views. A place where family and friends can spend time together. You want beautiful photos, fresh mountain air, and a setting that feels different from the everyday.
For many couples, "Asheville wedding venue" simply becomes shorthand for all of those things.
What often surprises them is that the experience they're imagining isn't necessarily found in downtown Asheville. It's found throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding it. The mountain views. The private retreats. The weekend-long celebrations. Cabins, fire pits, hiking trails, and quiet mornings with family.
That's what draws people to this part of North Carolina.
Asheville is one of the most popular destinations in the Southeast for good reason. It offers incredible restaurants, a vibrant arts scene, and easy access to the mountains. But many couples are surprised to learn that some of the region's most scenic wedding venues aren't actually in Asheville at all.
They're tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the city, where the pace is slower, the views stretch for miles, and a wedding can feel more like a weekend retreat than a single-day event. If you're considering getting married in or around Asheville, here's one venue we think you should consider.
What Makes a Mountain Wedding Weekend Different?
Many couples begin their search looking for a beautiful mountain venue. What they don't always realize is that the venue itself is only part of the experience. The biggest difference between a traditional wedding day and a mountain wedding weekend is time.
Time to settle in. Time to connect with family and friends. Time to actually enjoy the celebration you've spent months planning. Instead of arriving a few hours before the ceremony and saying goodbye at the end of the night, a wedding weekend gives everyone space to slow down and be together.
Guests arrive on Friday and immediately begin making memories. Family members who haven't seen each other in years reconnect over dinner. Wedding parties gather around the fire. Parents and grandparents get to spend meaningful time together instead of trying to squeeze every conversation into a single reception.
The next morning, there's no rush.
People share coffee on the porch while the mountains wake up around them. Friends explore nearby Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The wedding day itself feels less stressful because everyone is already there, already settled in, and already part of the experience.
That's one of the reasons couples choose Serenity Ridge.
why should you consider serenity ridge?
At first glance, it's easy to assume the mountain views are what make Serenity Ridge special. And while the views certainly don't hurt, they're rarely what couples talk about after the wedding is over. Instead, they talk about the feeling of having everyone together.
With lodging for up to 36 guests, private access to the property, in-house catering, and a dedicated team handling the details, the focus shifts away from logistics and back to what matters most: spending time with the people you love.
In fact, when we read through recent reviews from our couples, the themes are remarkably consistent. They talk about how easy the planning process felt. They talk about having everyone stay together on the property. They talk about gathering around the fire after the reception and sharing breakfast the next morning. One of the things couples tell us they love most about Serenity Ridge is that it feels like a destination wedding without leaving the Carolinas.
And then there's the food.
If you've attended enough weddings, you've probably learned to keep your expectations low when it comes to dinner. That's why one of the most common things we hear from couples and guests is surprise. Not because the food is good "for wedding food," but because it's genuinely memorable. Our in-house catering is led by a chef with more than two decades of restaurant experience, and custom menus are part of what we do best. Long after the wedding, couples often tell us their guests are still talking about the meal.
Most importantly, Serenity Ridge is family-owned and intentionally hands-on.
From your first tour through the wedding weekend itself, you'll work with a team that knows the property, knows weddings, and genuinely cares about creating a seamless experience for you and your guests. The result is something that's difficult to explain until you experience it yourself. It's not just a beautiful venue.
It's a place where your favorite people spend an entire weekend together, surrounded by mountain views, good food, and the kind of memories that happen when nobody is in a hurry to leave.
how do guests get here?
One of the advantages of getting married in Western North Carolina is having multiple airport options nearby. For out-of-town guests, we typically recommend comparing all three major airports before booking flights.
Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)
Approximately one hour away, Asheville Regional is the closest airport and offers an easy travel experience with short lines and simple navigation.
Greenville-Spartanburg Airport (GSP)
Also about an hour away, GSP often provides more flight options and competitive pricing.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)
Approximately one hour and forty-five minutes away, Charlotte offers the greatest number of nonstop flights and is often the most affordable option for guests traveling longer distances.
For wedding websites and guest informational purposes, we generally recommend listing all three airports and encouraging guests to compare fares before booking.

Where Do Guests Stay?
One of the most common questions we receive is what happens when your guest list is larger than the on-site lodging capacity.
The good news is that while Serenity Ridge can accommodate up to 36 overnight guests on the property, there are dozens of additional lodging options nearby. Many couples reserve the on-site lodging for immediate family or their closest friends, while additional guests stay in nearby vacation rentals, cabins, hotels, and inns throughout the Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Tryon, and Saluda areas.
Because the venue is exclusively yours for the weekend, couples often find they have the best of both worlds: their closest family and friends stay on-site while everyone else remains within a short drive.
We gladly provide lodging recommendations to help every guests find accommodations that fit their budget and travel style.
Why Guests Love Making a Weekend of It
One of the unexpected benefits of getting married in the Blue Ridge Mountains is that guests often turn the celebration into a mini vacation. Some arrive early and spend the afternoon at Lake Lure, others hike nearby Chimney Rock, explore the shops in Saluda, or enjoy dinner in Tryon before returning to the venue.
Because there's so much to do nearby, many couples find their guests are excited to stay longer and enjoy the region together. Check out our local favorites here.
